Why we don't give you an average price
We found no reliable national source of boat storage prices. Published «averages» mix monthly and seasonal prices, indoor and outdoor, cities and rural lots. Instead, the estimator works with your quotes and shows official rate sheets from public marinas as checkable examples. More context in the cost guide.
How it is calculated
Monthly cost = price converted to a month (per foot × length; season ÷ months; year ÷ 12; day × 365 ÷ 12) + extras per month. Yearly cost = monthly cost × months stored (12, or the months of the season) + one-time fees. The «cheapest» compares the effective monthly cost (yearly cost ÷ months stored), so one-time fees count.
Checkable example
24 ft boat. Vero Beach City Marina dry storage, $20 per foot per month (annual contract, Oct 2025) → $480 a month, $5,760 a year. Liberty Harbor winter dry storage, $100 per foot per season of 6 months → $400 a month, $2,400 for the season.
Limits
- Taxes and card fees are only included if you add them.
- Some facilities bill the slip or space length, not the boat: use that number.
